Learn 3D: CLO3D for Technical Designers
Bridge design and development using digital tools to assess fit, construction, and function.
What will I learn?
Technical designers and garment technologists are often caught between creative intent and production feasibility. This course gives you the tools to evaluate garment construction and fit directly in CLO3D, helping reduce sampling rounds, flag construction issues early, and support communication with suppliers. You’ll learn how to simulate fabrics accurately, annotate garments for tech packs, What will I learn? This course supports technical designers and garment technologists looking to use CLO3D for virtual fit assessment, spec validation, and production-ready garment reviews. You'll gain confidence in reading 3D garments, identifying fit issues, and communicating adjustments visually. ✨Garment Setup & Pattern Evaluation✨ ➜ Working with imported patterns and checking technical accuracy ➜ Understanding seamlines, grainlines, and avatar measurements ➜ Preparing garments for basic simulation ✨Digital Fit Analysis✨ ➜ Using CLO’s fit tools to identify pressure, strain, and imbalance ➜ Comparing avatar measurements and garment specs ➜ Annotating issues and evaluating construction logic ✨Material & Trim Simulation✨ ➜ Applying accurate fabric behaviours and interlinings ➜ Placing hardware and stitch detailing ➜ Communicating construction intent through 3D garments ✨Tech Pack & Communication Outputs✨ ➜ Exporting visuals and specs for factory communication ➜ Using CLO tools for annotation and measurement sharing ➜ Reviewing colourways and variant styles from a tech perspective By the end of this course, you’ll be able to confidently assess virtual samples, annotate fit and construction issues, and support product development teams through clear, visual communication in CLO3D. By booking onto any of our services, you agree to the following guidelines. These are in place to ensure a positive, professional and enjoyable learning experience for everyone involved. Learning requirements: You’ll need the full app version of our training platform Hurdle, which we’ll provide for you. You’ll also need a valid full or trial version of the relevant software(s) for your course; usually either CLO or Adobe for the duration of your learning (please refer to our FAQs for the minimum system requirements for each software). For CLO training, a three-button mouse is essential (please refrain from using Apple Magic Mouse or Wacom tablets). We also recommend having a second screen, such as a monitor or tablet, to view your tutor’s screen more easily. A stable internet connection is also required. Professional conduct: We ask that everyone treat their tutor and fellow learners with respect and professionalism. Please be mindful of how much space you take up in discussions so that everyone has the opportunity to ask questions and take part. Attendance and participation: Please attend all sessions punctually and be ready to learn. If you’re unable to participate, let your tutor know as soon as possible. For group sessions, missing more than two sessions without prior notice or a valid reason may affect your certificate of completion. Our group courses are highly interactive and designed to adapt to the needs of the learners in the room. This means that the pace may vary depending on the number of questions and how much hands-on practice the group needs. We prioritise understanding and confidence over speed, so occasionally, not all advertised topics are fully covered within the live sessions. Each course is carefully designed to ensure you still achieve the intended learning outcomes, even if the session content is adjusted to suit the group. Cancellations and Rescheduling: If you need to cancel a booking, please do so at least one week prior to your session. For tuition sessions, we’re happy to reschedule if you give at least 48 hours’ notice. For group sessions and masterclasses, please note that rescheduling isn’t available once a booking is made. Agreement: By joining our learning sessions, you acknowledge that the live training may adapt based on the group's needs and engagement levels. Our focus is on ensuring every learner feels supported, confident and equipped to apply what they’ve learned.
