What will I learn?

This beginner-friendly course helps you make that shift with step-by-step guidance on CLO3D's 2D pattern drafting and editing environment. You'll learn to create accurate digital patterns, refine fit and balance, and prepare files for sampling or production. This pathway is designed for pattern makers new to 3D who want to build confidence in digital workflows. Whether you're transitioning from traditional methods or exploring 3D for the first time, you'll discover how CLO3D's 2D tools can speed up prototyping, improve accuracy, and support clearer handoff to production. A basic understanding of pattern cutting is helpful but not essential. All sessions are delivered online and recorded for flexible learning. Support is available throughout via our dedicated forum. You'll need a trial or full version of CLO3D to participate. ✨Building the Foundation ➜ Navigate the interface with a pattern maker's perspective, use 2D drafting tools to create patterns from scratch, and work with symmetry, guidelines, and construction lines. ✨Pattern Development & Modification ➜ Explore pattern editing techniques, including dart manipulation, volume adjustments, styleline development, and pattern component creation using CLO3D's editing and flattening tools. ✨Construction Logic & Detailing ➜ Apply seam allowances, grainlines, and notches, add topstitch and finishing details, and understand how construction translates between 2D and 3D. ✨Evaluation & Production Review patterns for fit and balance, explore grading principles in CLO3D, and export clean, organised files for sampling and production handoff. By the end of this course, you'll be confident drafting and refining digital patterns in CLO3D's 2D environment, troubleshooting fit between 2D and 3D, and preparing production-ready files that support faster, more accurate workflows.
