Final Session Recording & Links

Hey @Everyone,

I can't believe our sessions are done already! We have covered so much though, and I hope that you have found the sessions helpful and have given you a great insight into the world of CLO.

This weeks recording is now available here.

This week we covered:

  • How to change the scale of prints added from the object browser

  • How to generate fabrics from scratch CLOFAB

Thank you for all the knowledge you have passed on to us and for the additional links! I look forward to practicing and continuing to learn CLO! ☺️

Lesson 3 Questions

Hey @Laura Fish!

I have some questions from recording 3 please!

Prints

  • If you add print as a base colour map - will it always stay true to scale?

  • If you add print to primary and need to adjust scale to original ratio, how do you do this?

  • What if I have a jacquard or a seamless knit texture - do I apply this as a print/fabric texture?

Hey @Rosie Bishop Great questions! I can answer some of those here, and then perhaps some of them this evening?

Prints

  1. Yes, if you add as base colour map they always maintain the original scale.

  2. Not sure of the exact meaning on this one, so let's review this evening 😊

  3. Yes, I would add a jacquard or seamless as a base colour map too.

  4. You should be able to save out from the texture editor (I think I showed this in the recording), it will save out to scale but unfortunately it is only a flat image (not vector) and wouldn't be fully editable in illustrator.

Fabrics

  1. Yes, I can show you this in tonight's session. Washing and finishing can be applied easily to Denim from the fabric properties panel. For other fabrics, they would be added as an additional 'map' in the texture editor with the base colour map.

Trim Application

  1. I think I briefly discussed this in the session but didn't demonstrate it, they are applied the same as buttons and are in the button library. The only thing is that they are not functioning (they do not 'fasten' so to speak), so you would need to sew the seam and then add them as decorative.

Zips

  1. This is a more advanced concept but completely possible. You would create your pull as I quickly demonstrated in the session, and then add the logo as a base colour map, you can then add additional maps (usually normal & displacement) to make the logo appear 3D.

Tapes

  1. Yes, I would recommend adding the internal lines for the tape as you will need them both for measuring how long you need the tape and also to sew your tape to. If the tape would be glued and not sewn, there is now also a way to do that in CLO too - I can show you that this evening if it would be useful, but I would still add the lines you know where to place 😊

General

  1. Yes you can! Only on T-Shirts, Trousers & Skirts at the moment and to a pretty basic level, but a great starting point. I will show you that this evening too!

I better check I have all of the files uploaded to demo these for you now 😅

See you soon!
