What will I learn?

Learn to create repeat patterns in this four-part interactive online course. Join us to see how Adobe Illustrator can help you to create your own designs and turn them into perfectly repeating patterns. You will learn all the tools of the trade and crucial steps so you can confidently create your own industry-standard pattern designs. Session 1 – ✨Creating Design Elements and Basic Repeats✨ Working together with Stephen (our software and print pro!) you will create three different styles of design elements which can then be used to create a repeat pattern. ➜ Hand-drawn flower using the Paintbrush Tool 🌸 ➜ Digital Mark Making using the Blob Brush Tool 🖌 ➜ Turn a hand sketch into editable artwork 💻 Once you have created some elements we will then let you in on the super-secret, digital pattern designer's secret weapon... number one 🤫 Session 2 – ✨Editing Repeat Patterns and Colour Palettes✨ In this second session, you will learn the easy way to rework patterns to create new ones! Find out how to recolour a pattern using a specific colour palette in just a few clicks with the 'secret weapon number two' function in Illustrator. ➜ How to edit and rework an existing pattern ➜ How to resize, rotate and reposition a pattern ➜ How to recolour a pattern using your own colour palette. Session 3&4 – ✨Working on Your Own Designs✨ With your new secret weapons at hand, this final session will give you the opportunity to work on your designs whilst making the most of our expert tutor there to help. Stephen is there for you if you get stuck, if something isn't behaving the way it should and of course for advice and feedback on your work. ➜➜➜ About our group courses: 🧑‍🎓 Small groups of maximum 6 learners 🙋‍♀️Practical and interactive, so cameras and mics on, and ask as many questions as you like! 🎥 No frantic note-taking here! Refunds cannot be made if cancellations are made less than 1 week before the session. If you wish to reschedule your session for any reason please ensure you give us at least 48 hours notice.
