Skills Update: Product and Garment Mock-ups for Print & Textile Designers

From polished presentations to quick concept visuals, mock-ups are a powerful part of the design process. Whether you're working by hand, through software or with the help of AI, there are now more ways than ever to bring your designs to life.

In this Skills Update, we’ll explore different approaches to creating product and garment mock-ups, from fully bespoke visuals using Photoshop and Illustrator to more automated options using AI-powered tools. The right method depends on the outcome you're aiming for, and we’ll walk through how to assess which tool is right for the job.

We’ll share tips on finding and working with high-quality imagery, demonstrate how to apply your designs in context, and introduce a selection of platforms that make it easier to create convincing product visuals, whether you're working with interiors, fashion or accessories.

You’ll leave the session with a clearer understanding of the tools available, inspiration for how to present your designs more effectively, and practical techniques you can start using straight away to strengthen your mock-up workflow.

At CAD for Fashion, all our tutors are designers as well as lecturers, so we use and teach the software every day. This means that over the years we have developed, collected, stumbled across and researched the best tools and shortcuts to make your lives easier.
